DOE names new director of Office of Indian Energy Policy and Program
The U.S. Department of Energy has named Eric Mahroum as director of its Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs, the agency announced. Mahroum most recently served as director of the Department of Energy’s Office of State and Community Energy Programs, a role he assumed in January 2025, according to a DOE press release. In that position, he oversaw programs that made hundreds of millions of dollars available to Indian tribes and Alaska Native corporations.

Cherokee police arrest, charge three in fatal shooting on Qualla Boundary
