Genevieve White

Genevieve Coleman White, 83, of Claremore, OK, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Tulsa, OK.

Genevieve was born May 13, 1942, in Talihina, OK, to parents Jimmie and Lucille (Tims) Coleman. She lived with her family in Ft. Towson, OK, for several years before moving to Claremore. Genevieve attended Claremore Public Schools and graduated from Claremore High School in 1960.

She was a dedicated member of Christ United Methodist Church from its founding and at church, she met Clifford White, whom she married on June 23, 1961. Genevieve and Clifford began building their life together and welcomed a daughter, Cindy, and then a son, Anthony, to their family.

Always a hard worker, Genevieve held many jobs throughout her life and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1984. She then dedicated over twenty-five years to caring for patients until her retirement. She took great pride in caring for her patients and ensured they received the best care possible. A family member of a former patient described Genevieve by saying “she was our eyes and ears when we couldn’t be there”.

Genevieve then took a retirement job as the weekend telephone operator for the Claremore Indian Hospital where she served proudly until shortly before her passing. And her work ethic wasn’t limited to her paid jobs. Even in her 80s, she could be found push mowing her yard or cleaning at church.

Genevieve enjoyed spending her free time traveling with Clifford and spending time with their family. She was deeply devoted to her family and especially loved spending time taking her great-grandchildren shopping, out to eat and supporting them at their activities.

Genevieve was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and enjoyed learning the Choctaw language and sharing her knowledge of the tribe and its culture.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford; daughter, Cindy (Clay) Young; son, Anthony (Tammy) White; grandchildren, Kasey (Jon) Watson, Karey (John) Province, Kristin Young, Kody Young, Dakota (Mariaha) White, and Brandon White; great-grandchildren, Jared Young, Preston Watson, Jalen Patton, Sophie Watson, Eastin Province, Jaxson White, Reese Province, and Dallas White; sisters, Cheryl Sixkiller and Gwen Lester; sisters-in-law, Gloria Coleman, JoAnn (Ron) Likens, Susie (Marcelino) Rosario; brothers-in-law, Bob Ouellette and Vincent Orfiano; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rachel Ouellette and Virginia Coleman; a brother, James “Buddy” Coleman; a sister-in-law, Lou Ella Hansen; two

brothers-in-law, Rodney Lester and George Clute; a niece, Gina Maldonado; and three nephews, Michael Collier, Richard Hernandez and Clemente Hernandez, Jr.

Genevieve held a strong Christian faith and has now been reunited with the many family members and friends who passed on before her. While those of us here mourn her passing, we take great comfort in knowing that we, too, will be reunited with her one day.1942  -  October 22, 2025
