Glennis Lou Riley Bookstore, age 77, died on April 11, 2025, at her home east of Elkhart, Kansas. Glennis was born August 25, 1947, to Glenn A. and Betty (Sweem) Riley in Elkhart.


Glennis lived all of her life in Morton County, growing up on the family farm north of Elkhart. She loved life and lived it to the fullest, enjoying her many family and friends, activities, and shenanigans. She attended First Church of God in Elkhart from the time she was a small child, later serving in many capacities.


Glennis graduated from Elkhart High School in 1965. She was married to Francis H. “Nick” Bookstore from July 10, 1965, to June 5, 1991. From that union were born two children, Sean Glenn and Nikki Jo.


Glennis was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Herbert and Eulaliah Sweem and Edwin and Gertrude Riley; and one nephew, Jason Riley.


Survivors include her son, Sean Bookstore and daughter Nikki Bookstore both of Elkhart, KS.; two brothers Gary Riley and wife Sherie of Ulysses, KS. and Alvin Riley and wife Debbie of Angel Fire, NM.; one sister Rosalyn Drew and her husband John of Elkhart, KS.; grandchildren, Wyatt Howe and wife JaCee of Fullerton, NE., Shanie Howe, of Elkhart, KS, Lacy Bookstore of Hutchinson, KS., Barry Clark of Midland, TX., Chandra Clark of Topeka, KS. and Kolby Bookstore of Kingman, KS. a very special daughter-in-law, Laura Bookstore of Kingman, KS., and two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Henry. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who thought the world of her. Many called her Aunt Glennis, relation or not.
