Woody Anderson, executive director of the United Keetoowah Band Federal Corporation, announced the formation of a new company, Echota Data and Design LLC. Anderson also presented financial updates to the council, including a $56,791 check representing lease payments.

Anderson said the corporation ended the year with $900,271 in unrestricted funds.

Employment within the tribe has increased significantly over the past year, Anderson said. The UKB currently employs 156 workers, up from 94 the previous year. With the addition of summer personnel, the total workforce is expected to exceed 200 employees.

Anderson said 11 full-time positions remain open and the corporation is actively seeking to fill them.

During the meeting, Tribal Councilor Janelle Adair of the Illinois District asked whether her district could work with the federal corporation to develop five-, 10- and 15-year revenue plans to ensure the long-term operation and sustainability of tribal buildings.

Anderson said the corporation would be willing to assist with long-range planning efforts.

The economic update was part of a broader council meeting that included committee appointments, public comments and governance actions. No vote was taken during the meeting regarding additional business expansion plans beyond those announced.

The next UKB Tribal Council meeting is scheduled for Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. at the UKB Wellness Building.
